Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, who took over the reins of the state after the death of four-time CM Manohar Parrikar last month, Wednesday assured a "corruption-free" government.

He was addressing BJP workers ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's address at a rally near Panaji.

"I am committed to give corruption-free governance to the state. We will model the development of Goa as per the vision of Manohar Parrikar," the chief minister said.

"We will adopt Narendra Modi's mantra of 'na khaunga, na khane dunga' (neither will I take bribe, nor will I allow anyone to take bribe)," he said.

Sawant remembered Parrikar and his contribution towards the state.

"No meeting can start without remembering Parrikar, who has been the architect of modern Goa," he said.

"We have to take Goa ahead in a different way. It should be developed as per Parrikar's vision...Parrikar is no more among us, but we will win both the Lok Sabha and the four by-elections (including Panaji)," he said.

Sawant also assured resolution of the mining issue in Goa. The industry came to a standstill last year after the Supreme Court quashed the second renewal of 88 mining leases in February last year.

"I am well aware of the mining issue. Only the BJP can resolve the mining issue. It would be resolved in a legal way," he said.
