Committee set up to conduct session of Indian Science Congress

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis set up a high powered committee today to coordinate preparations for the 102nd session of the Indian Science Congress, officials at the CMO said.

The University of Mumbai plans to host the event from January 3, 2015, which is scheduled to be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The event would be attended by 12,000 scientists from India and abroad, including ten Nobel laureates.

Fadnavis, who met Governor Ch Vidyasagar Rao, announced setting up of a high-powered committee to coordinate and execute all aspects related to government and other agencies to conduct the event, officials said.
 

He discussed the preparedness of the University of Mumbai and other government agencies for the successful management of the high profile event with the Governor.

The Chief Minister assured all necessary support from the state government for the prestigious event.

Various issues pertaining to higher education such as reforms in higher education and bringing about uniformity in university examination systems, were also discussed at the meeting with the Governor, officials said.
