The one-man committee set up by the Sikkim Government to enquire into the July 14 police lathicharge on students Sikkim Government College, Tadong has submitted its report, an official said today.

C T Wangdi, Secretary Land Revenue and Disaster Management department, who headed the one-man committee submitted its report to the Chief Secretary on August 2, the official said.

The report has not fixed any individual responsibility on officials and has left it to the government to take appropriate action against the officers as per the findings of the report, the official said.

The committee in its report has pointed out that "immaturity" of the district officers in handling the situation was one of the main reasons that led to the lathicharge, the official added.

When contacted, Chief Secretary R Ongmu confirmed that the one-man Committee has submitted its report and that this would accordingly be forwarded to the government for appropriate action.
