Communal tension prevailed in Kheteta village under Aliganj police station area of the district when a madarsa wall was partially damaged here yesterday, following a dispute over prayer site.

SP (rural), Brijesh Srivastava today said that there was a move to start Friday namaz in a private madarsa after installing a shed over a new wall which was being opposed by the majority community claiming that there was no such tradition.

Late last night, the new wall of the madarsa was partially damaged and police and RAF rushed there to ward off any clash.

Both the sides were pacified and the damaged wall was got repaired on condition that no "new tradition" of Friday prayers would be started there.

Srivastava said though there is peace in the area, police and RAF in large numbers have been deployed as a precautionary measure.
