Communalism is the biggest threat to amity in the world and there was a need to tear down the walls between various religions and communities in order to achieve harmony, Haryana Governor Kaptan Singh Solanki today said.
He was speaking at a function organised by Jain Samaj on the occasion of 'Vishwa Maitri Diwas' at the Law Bhawan here today.
Solanki said India was known throughout the world for amity and harmony, and under the concept of 'Vasudhaiv Kutumbkam', Indians consider the whole world as a family, which includes not only human beings, but also other living beings.
Using the same concept, the country has also given the world the principle of 'live and let live', which means that while everyone has the right to live, it is also everyone's duty to let others live, he added.
The Governor said 'Vishwa Maitri Diwas', also known as the 'Kshama Yachna Diwas' and 'Paryushan Diwas', held special significance, as it was a symbol of 'manava dharma'.
He added today there was a need for the world to follow the concept of 'manava dharma', which encompasses all religions.
