AAMSU members took out a procession at Lakhipur town in Cachar district to demand compensation for Singha's family and submitted a memorandum to Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi through the sub-divisional officer of Lakhipur.

AAMSU general secretary Ranjan Laishram said adequate compensation should be given to the family of Singha, who died on August 17, as he was the only breadwinner.

Singha, who worked in a private company in Hyderabad, hailed from Kaptanpur part-III village under Lakhipur police station. He was among thousands of young professionals and students from the northeast who fled from other states during the recent exodus following violence in lower Assam.

Hindu Jagaran Manch and some other organisations also joined the rally.
