Compensation package to be explained to farmers, says minister

Andhra Pradesh Excise and Handlooms Minister Kollu Ravindra said here today that the compensation package offered to farmers who give up their land for the construction of the Machilipatnam Port would be explained to them.

He initiated consultations with farmers from Mekavanipalem, Tavisipudi and Manginapudi villages, adding that the Machilipatnam Port would benefit people and result in multi-dimensional development of Krishna district.

He requested farmers to come forward co-operate with authorities assuring that no farmer will be victimised during land acquisition.

He said that the date of issuing the draft notification to acquire 2,800 acres of private land would be fixed in consultation with Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, with the co-operation of farmers.
 

He appealed to people from all sections to come forward and join hands to make Machilipatnam Port a reality.
