An Aizawl-based anti-corruption watchdog today submitted a complaint to the Mizoram Chief Vigilance Officer (CVO) alleging misappropriation of fund in the state Animal Husbandry and Veterinary department.

But department sources clarified no embezzlement had taken place and gave break-up of figures.

In it's complaint to the CVO, the People's Right to Information and Development Society of Mizoram (PRISM) said that office of the Director, AH and Veterinary misappropriated Rs 72.50 lakh under the RKVY and urged the latter to investigate the matter.

According to the complaint, the District AH and Veterinary Office of Mizoram-Assam border Kolasib district was allocated Rs 150 lakh for assisting 120 Diary farmers during 2012-2013. But the fund was not fully utilised even during 2014-15, it alleged.

However, rebutting the charge, the office Director maintained that Rs 90,000 each was disbursed to 80 diary farmers while one person was given Rs 45,000 and the remaining Rs 5,000 was also with the department.
