Complaints were received recently that controversial preacher Zakir Naik's Peace TV was being shown by some cable operators in Kurnool and Aurangabad and the details were provided to the district authorities for action, Rajya Sabha was told today.
Information and Broadcasting Minister M Venkaiah Naidu said in a written reply that complaints about telecast of unauthorised channels were forwarded to authorities concerned.
"Recently, such complaints were received against some cable operators from some districts such as Kurnool and Aurangabad regarding carriage of Peace TV channel, which were forwarded to the District Collector for necessary action by the authorised officers under the Cable Act," Naidu said in his reply.

Peace TV, run by Naik's Islamic Research Foundation, is known to telecast his speeches.
Naik's "provocative" speeches had reportedly inspired some of the terrorists who carried out Bangladesh's worst terror attack at a cafe in Dhaka that left 22 dead earlier this month.
In a written response to another question, Naidu said the Shyam Benegal panel which was constituted to submit its report on the functioning of CBFC, had submitted its first report in April and the final report last month.
