The government has received complaints about mis-utilisation of funds in post-matric scholarships for Scheduled Caste students in Uttar Pradesh and functioning of some "fake non-governmental organisations", Lok Sabha was told today.

In a written reply today, Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Vijay Sampla said complaints against misutilisation of funds in Post Matric Scholarships for Scheduled Castes in Uttar Pradesh have been received.

The Uttar Pradesh government has informed that appropriate penal and remedial action in such cases has been initiated, he added.

Sampla said the government has decided to release all scholarships directly into the bank accounts of student beneficiaries from the financial year 2015-16.
