Akhilesh also ordered launch of a state-wide campaign to issue new power connections and check pilferage

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav today directed the power department to get all under-construction projects completed at the earliest so that they can start supplying power from next year.

"During a review meeting, the CM directed Principal Secretary (Energy) to inspect under-construction power projects, especially Lalitpur, Bara and Anpara D, and get them completed at the earliest so that people of the state start getting power from next year," a spokesman said in a statement issued here.

Akhilesh ordered launch of a state-wide campaign to issue new power connections and check pilferage.

He said it should be ensured that poor people are not harassed and better facilities are provided to honest consumers.

The Chief Minister said setting up of 33/11 KV sub-stations at the tehsil level must be completed by September this year.

He said the facility of bill payment through card and net banking has been launched and it should be publicised and arrangements should be made wherein consumers can get information about their electricity bill on their mobile phones.

Directing officials to take immediate action on complaints, Akhilesh said call centres have been opened at distribution companies.

He said the government was paying special attention on power reforms in rural areas.
