A fraudster who allegedly cheated about 80 unemployed youth of about Rs one crore with false promises of providing them jobs in the Income Tax Department, was arrested here today, police said.
Gangadhar Satish Kumar was arrested by sleuths of the Commissioner's Task Force from Uppguda area here.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Task Force) P Radhakishan Rao said that during the course of investigation, it was found that Kumar had collected about Rs one crore from about 80 job aspirants since 2014.
Satish informed his relatives that there are 'vacancies' in the department and his good rapport with the staff would ensure that they got jobs there, the DCP said.
After collecting the money, he used to send six digit numerical fake numbers to the prospective candidates, claiming it was the 'allotment number' for the applied post from the Income Tax Department, Rao said.
However, the candidates soon realised it was a fake number and lodged police complaints, he said.
