Press Trust of India Mumbai
Maharashtra State Gazetted Officers Federation has asked the state government to ensure that a thorough probe is conducted before a government official's suspension is announced in the state legislature.

"Many times, before a minister announces suspension of an official in the House, it is not checked if a thorough probe has been conducted against the official to ascertain if he is really guilty," G D Kulthe, chief adviser of the Federation, said here today.

"Suspension is a major punishment and if an official is being suspended without any mistake on his part, it is against the principles of natural justice," Kulthe said in a letter to the chief minister, presiding officers of the Assembly and Legislative Council and senior bureaucrats.
