The Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) will host a day-long conference in Goa on January 27 to discuss about sustainable development of the marine tourism industry in the state.
Marine tourism is a key trend gaining popularity in the tourism sector, both in terms of scope and economic contribution. Goa has 105 kms of beautiful coastline and more than 255 kms of navigable waterways, a spokesman of the CII said in a release here.
Being a key destination for domestic and international tourists, there is a significant potential for development of marine tourism in Goa, he said.

The marine tourism industry in Goa comprises water sports, boat cruises for picnics, scuba diving, snorkeling, line-fishing and dolphin watching, he said.
Diving is largely centred around the coral-laden Grande Island in Vasco, while dolphin watching takes place mainly at Sinquerim Bay at Aguada, he said.
With the improving infrastructure and visibility, the western cost of India is being considered by overseas sailors as a sailing and yachting destination, the spokesman said.
In response to this increased market attractiveness, several government entities and private investors have initiated plans to develop suitable infrastructure facilities such as cruise terminals, he noted.
The CII said it supports the marine industry by providing a platform for government dignitaries, industry professionals and major stakeholders to come together to discuss policies, business and trends.
During the conference, there will be discussions on the interaction of private sector with the policy-makers, business networking opportunities and a way forward for development of the marine tourism in Goa.
