The BJP's Delhi unit Sunday accused the Congress and the AAP of circulating fake news about its South Delhi MP Ramesh Bidhuri and trying to create an atmosphere of fear in the city.

A "photoshopped" image of a newspaper cutting that surfaced on social media recently claims that Bidhuri made a statement against migrants in the city.

"The Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party are misusing the photoshopped image for political gains," Delhi BJP chief Manoj Tiwari alleged in a statement.

He alleged that the AAP and the Congress were indulging in "cheap politics" to create an atmosphere of fear in Delhi, especially among migrants.

A photoshopped image appeared some days ago. Fake news is being circulated about Bidhuri saying people belonging to UP and Bihar should be driven out of Delhi, a Delhi BJP statement said.

Some political leaders and journalists shared it on the Internet to create fear and confusion among people, it alleged.

Addressing a press conference along with Bidhuri, Tiwari said, "This is sponsored fake news. Attempts are being made to create an atmosphere of fear in Delhi just like Gujarat."

"The Congress and the AAP are trying to spread violence and divide the country," he alleged.

Bidhuri attacked AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal and his party, accusing them of indulging in propaganda against him.

"Making meaningless statements is a habit of the Aam Aadmi Party," he said.

The Congress and AAP are hatching a conspiracy against the Delhi BJP and the people of Poorvanchal, he alleged.

The BJP leaders have complained to the Delhi Police Commissioner in this regard.
