Congress today moved the Election Commission alleging that a BJP MLA in Madhya Pradesh is using the official residence of her police officer husband while campaigning for the Ratlam-Jhabua bypolls.

In a memorandum to the Commission, AICC Secretary in charge of legal and human rights affairs K C Mittal alleged that Ali Rajpur district SP R S Meena's official residence is being used by his MLA wife Mamata Meena who represents Chachoda constituency.

He alleged that she and other party workers are using the accommodation to campaign for the BJP candidates.

Terming it as a violation of EC directives, he demanded that the official should be ordered to stay out of the area till the counting is completed.

The bypolls are slated for November 21.

"The Commission has ordered immediate verification and enquiry and thereafter appropriate orders will be issued," Mittal said in a statement.
