Cong announces 9 candidates for TN polls

Congress tonight announced the names of 9 candidates for the May 16 Assembly elections in Tamil Nadu which it is fighting in alliance with DMK.

As per the list released by Congress general secretary Madhusudan Mistry, Nasey R Rajesh will contest in Maduravoyal, Karate R Thiyagarajan from Mylapore, K Selvaperunthagai from Sriperumbudur (SC) and Dr M K Vishnuprasad from Cheyyar.

P Gopi has been nominated from Kangayam, Sreeraj Chokkar from Sivakasi, Rani Venkatesan from Srivaikuntam and S Rajeshkumar from Kiliyoor.

The party has also named B Ramachandran from Udhagamandalam, replacing R Ganesh announced earlier.

Congress had few days back released a list of 33 candidates for the polls. It has been allotted 41 seats by DMK in the 234-segment Assembly.
 

The Congress-DMK alliance was finalised after a meeting of senior leaders Ghulam Nabi Azad and Mukul Wasnik with DMK supremo M Karunanidhi.

Elections will be held in the state on May 16 and results will be announced on May 19.

The main tussle in the state is between the ruling AIADMK led alliance and the DMK-led alliance.
