The ruling Congress in Uttarakhand has asked its MLAs, ministers and nominated corporation heads to submit details of their assets to the state party leadership within a week.
A directive to this effect was issued by Pradesh Congress Committee President Kishore Upadhyay yesterday to all party legislators, corporation heads and ministers, PCC spokesman Mathuradutt Joshi said today.
The move comes at a time when the state government is planning to enact a new law seeking to prevent amassing of disproportionate assets by public representatives.

"The step has been taken to ensure that our own house is clean before any such law is enacted to penalise those guilty of amassing assets beyond their known sources of income.
Even otherwise the party feels declaration of assets by public representatives and those occupying public offices is their moral responsibility," Joshi said.
Disciplinary action will be taken against those who do not declare their assets, he said.
