The Congress and the BJP today organized separate rallies to protest against the carcass scandal that was unearthed by the police last week.
The BJP took out the rally outside Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) in the evening. Party activists marched towards the Trinamool Congress run KMC and shouted slogans against the state government.
Apart from placards and posters, activists also carried dressed chicken and soft toys.
"The KMC has been completely indifferent towards this racket. The KMC and the state government have turned a blind eye to this for which the racket has flourished in the state," said a BJP activist.
The Youth Congress workers, on the other hand, organized a protest rally at Moulali crossing of central Kolkata against illegal the trade of carcass meat sourced from dump yards.
