The Congress today boycotted the breakfast hosted by Rajya Sabha Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu in the honour of new Deputy Chairman Harivansh, in protest against the passage of bills amid a din in the Upper House yesterday.

According to sources, Congress members in the Upper House, including Leader of Opposition Ghulam Nabi Azad, boycotted the breakfast hosted by Naidu.

The Rajya Sabha chairman had invited the members of the House to breakfast in the honour of the newly-elected deputy chairman as well as the newly-elected members. The breakfast was held at the Parliament House Annexe.

The Congress had raised strong objections yesterday to the passage of certain bills amid a din. The members of the party had even raised slogans when a bill to establish a National Sports University in Manipur and the Homoeopathy Central Council (Amendment) Bill were passed.

The Congress members were vociferously raising a demand for a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) into the Rafale deal, while alleging corruption in it.
