Congress today filed a complaint against Punjab's Deputy Advocate General for allegedly campaigning for his father, the SAD candidate for Lok Sabha polls from Anandpur Sahib, in his official capacity.
In its complaint to the Election Commission, Congress alleged Deputy Advocate General Simranjit Singh, who is son of SAD candidate Prem Singh Chandumajra, had been campaigning for his father in Anandpur Sahib constituency despite holding an official position.
"Simranjit Singh is influencing the voters by using official position and in this way, they are using the government machinery," Congress said in its complaint, copies of which were released to the media here.

Simranjit is taking active part in political activities of SAD and is organising and addressing political meetings on behalf of his father, Congress said.
"Simranjit is misusing his official position by holding meetings and asking people to vote for Chandumajra in violation of the service rules as per which he cannot participate in any political activity being a government employee," Congress said.
Congress sought immediate disciplinary action against Simranjit.
Chandumajra is pitted against sitting Congress MP Ravneet Singh Bittu from Anandpur Sahib.
