Congress today attacked the Centre's decision to issue an ordinance to keep NEET in abeyance alleging that it goes against the Supreme Court's verdict in the matter.
"This Ordinance is being brought to benefit the private medical colleges lobby at the cost of the students of India", party spokesman P C Chacko told reporters.
He said that the Union Cabinet decision to issue an ordinance to keep NEET in abeyance goes against the SC verdict on this matter.

Chacko said that under the current scenario, students have to travel across the country to sit for entrance exams and "there is no transparency".
Under mounting pressure from several states, Government today gave its nod for promulgation of an ordinance to keep state boards out of the ambit of uniform medical entrance examination, NEET, for this year.
The ordinance, cleared by the Union Cabinet this morning, is aimed at "partially" overturning a Supreme Court verdict which said all government colleges, deemed universities and private medical colleges would be covered under NEET.
