Congress today demanded strict action against those responsible for stoking clashes between two communities in East Delhi's Trilokpuri area which continues to be under heavy security.
A delegation of Congress MLAs led by DPCC chief Arvinder Singh Lovely met Delhi Police Commissioner B S Bassi asking him to ensure adequate safety and security to all the residents in the locality and arrest of those who allegedly fuelled the tension.
"We demanded registration of FIR and arrest of those responsible for stoking the clashes. These incidents have been taking place after change in power at the Center. It is a matter of concern for us," Lovely told reporters.

He said Congress MLAs held a meeting with the party councillors and the ex-MLAs from the area and directed them to reach out to all sections of the society and spread the message of secularism.
"Our priority at this point of time is to prevent a flare-up," said senior party leader and Chief Spokesperson of Delhi Congress Mukesh Sharma.
Tension prevailed in the area even as a large contingent of police personnel along with Rapid Action Force (RAF) and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) was keeping a tight vigil in all the 36 blocks after clashes on Diwali night.
Lovely criticised AAP MLAs from Trilokpuri and nearby Kondli and Parparganj for not being present in their respective constituencies when the clashes took place.
"Where were they when the locals were looking for them? The AAP is hand-in-glove with RSS and BJP," he said.
The Delhi Congress chief attacked the Centre alleging that no adequate arrangements have been made to facilitate celebration of Chhath puja by Poorvanchalis.
