Delhi Congress today demanded the AAP Government and BJP ruled MCDs hold by-elections for the 13 vacant posts of councillors in municipal wards charging that both the parties were "avoiding" it fearing their defeat.

Delhi Congress president Ajay Maken said that Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee will take legal recourse and hold demonstrations in the 13 wards for by-elections.

"Delhi Congress will implead as party in the case filed for by-elections at the 13 wards, in the High Court," he said.

DPCC will also hold protest demonstrations and dharnas in all the 13 wards, in the first week of November.

AAP Government was "deliberately" delaying the bye-elections perhaps because they feared defeat in it. BJP was also fearing defeat in the MCD bye-elections because of worsened sanitation condition and alarming spread of dengue due to inefficiency of MCDs ruled by the party, he added.
