Congress leaders Ashok Gehlot and Sachin Pilot today demanded the state government to safely evacuate Rajasthani pilgrims from rain-hit Uttarakhand after nearly half a dozen roads and bridges of districts in the state were damaged by first monsoon showers.
Former chief minister Gehlot said the Rajasthan government should make special arrangements to evacuate the pilgrims safety who were stranded in Uttarakhand.
Recalling his efforts of rescue operation during 2013 Uttarakhand tragedy, Gehlot said a special aircraft or chopper must be arranged for lifting the pilgrims from the place where they are stranded.
Meanwhile, PCC President Sachin Pilot said scores of people of Bangar area in Rajasthan were stranded in Uttarakhand and they should be given immediate relief by the state government.
900 persons were yesterday evacuated by choppers from Kedar valley, Hemkund Sahib and Badrinath areas in Uttarakhand with nearly half a dozen roads and bridges in Chamoli and Rudraprayag districts damaged by first monsoon showers as the yatra to the Himalayan shrines was severely affected.
