A day after skirmish broke out between villagers and staffers of a hotel group at Tiracol in North Goa district over the Golf course project, the Congress today demanded round the clock police presence in the area.
Several villagers and staffers of the hotel group, Leading Hotel Pvt Ltd, which is constructing a golf course at Tiracol in Pernem taluka, were injured in the scuffle with locals protesting against the project on grounds that it would degrade the environment.
"The repeated attacks on the villagers by trespassing into their property only further proves that the higher ups in the state administration, specially political bosses are patronising the illegal project," State Congress spokesperson Sunil Kawathankar told reporters today.

He alleged that the administration has sold Goans to the corporates for money.
"This act of suppressing the poor villagers and their freedom is highly unacceptable to the Congress and it shall not be tolerated," he said.
Meanwhile, an official of Leading Hotel Pvt Ltd P Ravi has filed a complaint with the police and claimed that a group of 25-30 people illegally trespassed into the hotel and began assaulting their staff members.
