Cong downplays British envoy meeting Modi

"The United Kingdom is a sovereign country. Its High Commissioner and officials can meet anybody. Modi is a Constitutional authority as any other Chief Minister," party spokesperson Sandip Dikshit told reporters here.

Britain today ended its decade-long boycott of Gujarat in the wake post-Godhra riots of 2002 with its High Commissioner to India James Bevan meeting Modi and the two discussing opportunities for greater economic cooperation.
