While talking to reporters after addressing inaugural function of the third 'Bhartiya Vigyan Sammelan (BVS) and Expo-2012' here at Lovely Professional University, Badal said, "After losing elections, the Congress leaders were raking up the false militancy issue with an eye on the forthcoming Lok Sabha polls."
"Congress always had an agenda of destruction, they are now creating sensation of militancy," Badal said adding that they are raising the matter for votes.
Earlier, while speaking at the function here at Lovely Professional University (LPU), the chief minister announced that a mega education city, over an area of 1,500 acre, would soon come up at Mullanpura near Chandigarh to give further impetus to the quality higher education in the state.
The Congress' Punjab unit on Friday knocked at the door of Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde on the "situation" prevailing in the once militancy-hit state, close on the heels of an assassination attempt in London on Lt.Gen. (retd) KS Brar for the 1984 Operation Bluestar.
The third 'Bhartiya Vigyan Sammelan' was organised in collaboration with Punjab Technical University and the Punjab State Council for Science and Technology (PSCST).
The upcoming education city would house eminent world class educational institutions and universities in humanities, medical, pharmaceutical and engineering, Badal said.
He praised LPU, PTU and PSCST for holding the four-day conference, and said it would go a long way in inculcating scientific and technical fervour among the youth through interaction with not only scientists, technocrats, academicians and policy makers not only from "structured organisations," but also with innovative farmers, technicians and artisans, on the topics relevant to global community in general and to Indian science and technology in particular.
