Congress is on the path to decline while BJP will get stronger under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Minister Jual Oram said today.

"Since the arrival of Modi at the helm, there has been a lot of positive changes in the entire country. Modi ji himself has come from the grassroot level so he has been initiating many pro-poor activities," the Tribal Affairs minister said.

"The Congress is run by a particular family and will face erosion, as evident in the Lok Sabha elections," Oram added.

Oram was addressing BJP's Nagaland unit's primary membership workshop.

He said that though Nagaland is a Christian-dominated state, the political system should not be influenced by religious beliefs, but one must follow the democratic process.

Oram urged state BJP leaders to work at the grassroot level so as to make people realize that BJP did not stop anybody from professing any religion and that they need to support Modi-government if they want to see Nagaland on the path of development and progress.

To a question by media, Oram said presently there is no special package to be granted from his ministry to the state.

Oram, however, asserted that he is ready to extend all possible help from the Centre if the state government puts up any proposal. "It all depends on the state government to set a development agenda for the state," he said.

The Union Minister was accompanied by national convener of BJP Northeast India Sampark Cell, Sunil Deodhar.
