Rajasthan Congress today slammed the Vasundhadra Raje government's move to allow power companies to charge fuel surchage on power bills from retrospective effect saying it will put additional tax burden on the consumers.
"It is a deciet with consumers that power companies would charge last year's fuel surcharge in two installments, from January to June and July to December, which would be included in the next bills of consumers from March 2015," PCC President Sachin Pilot said in a statement here.
He also claimed that due to fiscal mismanagement of Raje government, the state power companies were also planning to raise power tariff by 20 to 40 per cent in near future.
The BJP government had recently stopped giving Rs 25 subsidy of LPG cylinder to customers, he added.
"Public is seriously afflicted with inflation and price rise in Rajasthan," he said, adding the BJP government had skipped its manifesto to bring the prices down.
Meanwhile, former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot said that the incident of rape with tourists were affecting the tourism prospects of the state.
In a statement, he said if police had desired, they would curb this menace by arresting accused within 24 hours.
Recalling recent case of rape of a Japanese tourist by a tout near Jaipur, Gehlot said it was affecting the tourism prospects in the state.
Gehlot also advised the Chief Minister office to implement funds of 'CM Jeevan Raksha Kosh' up to Primary Health Centre and Community Health Centres so needy patients could get medical aid on time.
