BJP National President, Amit Shah today came in for attack from Opposition Congress in Kerala for describing Mahatma Gandhi as 'chatur bania' and demanded an apology from him for the 'unpardonable mistake'.

In a statement here, opposition leader in the state assembly Ramesh Chennithala said Shah had committed an "unpardonable mistake".

"By insulting the Father of the Nation, the BJP leader has insulted the country, and it was a reflection of the darkness in him which came out through his words. Shah's words will be rejected by Indians and his place in India's history will be in the dustbin," Chennithala said.

Hitting out at Shah, former KPCC President V M Sudheeran said in a Facebook post that he had insulted Gandhiji and the freedom struggle and demanded an apology from him.

Sudheeran also wanted prosecution proceedings to be launched against Shah for making the alleged statements insulting the Father of Nation and freedom struggle, which amounted to sedition, a punishable offence.
