Accusing Congress of indulging in vote-bank politics, BJP today said the country's security has become a matter of concern because of this approach of the ruling party and the nation has become 'helpless'.

The opposition party said Congress leaders had made statements raising doubts over the Batla House encounter for vote-bank politics but it has now been proved genuine.

'Till the time Congress party links the nation's security with security issues and separates it from vote-bank politics, the nation's security will remain an issue of concern,' senior BJP leader Arun Jaitley told a congregation of the party's Mahila Morcha here.

'Congress party is not linking the nation's security with issues of security but has instead linked it to vote-bank politics,' he lamented.

The Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha said, 'this UPA government has turned this nation helpless...Made it weak' as even small nations were taking the country for granted.

He also questioned the Congress leaders for visiting the families of those killed or accused in the Batla House encounter to express solidarity with them, and asked them if they had ever visited the families of the slain cops.

'Congress leaders are meeting families of those killed in Batla House encounter in Azamgarh. Did they ever stand by those cops killed or visit the families of the cops killed,' he questioned.

Jaitley said, 'The nation's security is in such a state that the nation feels insecure due to the politics of this government...The Maoists are expanding, but the Central government has neither the will nor the power nor ability to deal with them.
