Opposition Congress and INLD MLAs today raised the issue pertaining to an ongoing stir launched by Anganwadi workers and helpers in support of their various demands.

The Anganwadi workers have been on the agitation since February 12 demanding regularisation of their services, among other demands.

Congress Legislature Party leader Kiran Choudhary and Leader of Opposition Abhay Singh Chautala, who is a senior INLD leader, raised the matter in the House today on the opening day of the budget session.

"These women who are protesting have converged here from all over Haryana, their demands are very very logical. We are asking the government to fulfil the poll promises and regularise their services," Choudhary said.

Chautala said that the BJP had in its election manifesto promised to regularise their jobs.

"Now, three-and-a-half years have passed, but no one has been made regular (employee)," he said.

However, the Speaker told the opposition leaders to take their seats, saying they will be given time to raise the matter during the course of the ongoing session and government will give its reply on it.

Later, talking to reporters outside the Assembly complex, Choudhary said, "We will bring an adjournment motion tomorrow on this and other issues and force the government to take a stand."

She said other issues which the Congress will raise include rising inflation, corruption, farm distress, crimes against women, and unemployment. "The government has failed to take any effective step to deal with these issues during the past over four years," she said.
