The opposition Congress has welcomed the announcement of Puducherry Chief Minister N.Rangasamy that retrenched employees would be reinstated in their posts in various departments and public sector undertakings in a phased manner.

Former Education Minister and General Secretary of the PCC A.Gandhiraj told PTI today that although the Chief Minister had taken the decision belatedly it was a welcome announcement as the employees (daily wage paid workers) who were retrenched in 2011 would now feel relieved.

Rangasamy had announced yesterday that the retrenched staff in PWD and also in the government run Rajiv Gandhi College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences would in the first instance be reinstated on March 3 and the re-employment of other retrenched staff would take place in the next phase.
