Sukhpal Singh Khaira along with his supporters were marching towards Bholath from his native village Ramgarh where the police made preventive arrest and took them to sadar police station at Kapurthala in buses.
The protesters alleged that Badal is promoting "criminal" Bibi Jagir Kaur in her Bholath assembly area.
Khaira told media persons that he was to lodge a peaceful protest in front of the office of SDM Bholath when the police arrested him and his supporters.
A police officer said that police made preventive arrest of Khaira and his supporters as they were to lodge protest near the venue where Chief Minister was to address a public rally.
Badal was to lay some foundation stones at Bholath and Begowal and address a public rally at Bholath.
Bibi Jagir Kaur, who is a convict in a murder case of her daughter Harpreet Kaur, is on bail these days. She had defeated Khaira in the last hustings.
