JD(S) today complained to electoral authorities that senior Congress leader D K Shivakumar has violated the model code of conduct by distributing goodies to woo voters of Kanakapura constituency in the run-up to the May 5 Assembly polls.

"Shivakumar has violated the model code of conduct by distributing sarees, watercans, wrist-watches and T-shirts to woo voters," senior JDS leader P G R Sindhia told reporters here.

He alleged that the Congress leader was also indulging in manipulating the voters' list in collusion with district officials.

In a petition submitted to the Chief Electoral Officer here, the JDS asked the Election Commission to issue a notice to Shivakumar and take suitable action for violation of code of conduct, Sindhia said.

Sindhia flayed BJP for meeting their "communal end" through fringe saffron parties including Sri Rama Sene and Bajrang Dal. "They are one, but having different masks. We will complain about it to the Chief Election Commissioner's team when they visit here either on April 4 or 5," he said.
