Launching a fresh attack on the ruling Congress in Haryana, senior party leader Birender Singh today alleged of discrimination in development and grant of jobs in nine districts of the state.

Addressing a "Sadhbhavna Divas" rally here, Singh said, "It's a matter of concern that not even a single major industry has come to these nine districts (which he didn't name) and people are facing the problem of unemployment."

Singh, who is a known detractor of Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda and had earlier invited Congress president Sonia Gandhi to the rally, said this in the presence of Union Minister Kumar Selja and party general secretaries Digvijay Singh and Shakeel Ahmed.

"I am fighting for people's rights and there is a dire need to accelerate the pace of development in these districts," Singh, who had lost the 2009 Assembly elections to INLD president and former Chief Minister Om Prakash Chautala by a narrow margin from Uchana Kalan constituency in this district, told the gathering.

Without naming anyone, Singh said some persons in the party were trying to create such situation that he is forced to leave Congress.

"I want to tell them that I will never leave Congress, rather I will make those people leave the party," he said, stressing that he wanted to strengthen the Congress in the state and ensure all-round development of Haryana.

With his outbursts against his own government, Birender practically joined the opposition INLD and HJC-BJP combine, who often charge the Hooda government of regional bias in development works.

Speaking on the occasion, Digvijay Singh said the country was facing many problems and Congress was trying to solve them with people's cooperation and blamed the opposition of creating hurdles in development.

Kumari Selja, Shakeel Ahmed and Bhiwani-Mahendergarh MP, Shruti Chowdhary also addressed the rally.
