A senior Congress leader in Goa has objected to providing reservation to the SC, ST and OBC communities in the judicial commission.

"I am sad to see that we still harp on the appointment of SC, ST and OBCs. More than 60 years have passed since we have achieved freedom, but here we are reserving that the person should be from SC, ST or OBC," senior Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in Goa Assembly, Pratapsingh Rane, told the House today.

"Why should this happen in the 21st century? We should have done away with this. All are equal in the eyes of law. We should select the best possible person to be part of the judicial commission," the former Goa Chief Minister said during the day-long session held to ratify the National Judicial Appointments Commission Bill, 2014.
