The Congress leader said Jha's charges against him were false and aimed at tarnishing him image.

Singh said the BJP leader used fake documents to support his claim at a public meeting in Churhat that he had grabbed land belonging to tribals in his native Sidhi district.

Singh filed his plea before the First Class Judicial Magistrate seeking registration of complaint against Jha under IPC Sections 420 (cheating), 468 (forgery for purpose of cheating), 469 (forgery for purpose of harming reputation and 471 (using as genuine a forged document), among others.

The Leader of the Opposition said the documents which Jha had produced in support of his claim were all fake and hence he should be prosecuted.

Last month Singh had filed a Rs 10-crore defamation suit against the State BJP chief.
