With the Rajya Sabha biennial election from Puducherry scheduled on Sept 28, Leader of the Opposition in Puducherry Assembly V Vaithilingam today left here for Delhi to brief the Congress high command about the current "political situation" in the union territory.
Vaithilingam said he was asked to come to Delhi to meet AICC President Sonia Gandhi and Vice-President Rahul Gandhi.
He told PTI that he would brief the leaders about current political situation in Puducherry particularly in the context of the Rajya Sabha election to the lone seat here.

The Rajya Sabha election has become necessary in view of the completion of the term by sitting member P Kannan (Congress) on October 6.
The ruling AINRC is expected to win the seat. Congress has seven MLAs in the 30-member assembly.
