Cong leaders take part in former Union min Santosh Mohan Dev's prayer meeting

A large number of Congress leaders today attended a prayer meeting for late party leader and former Union minister Santosh Mohan Dev, with former president Pranab Mukherjee leading the remembrance.

Former prime minister Manmohan Singh, Congress president Sonia Gandhi, top party leaders Ahmed Patel, Mallikarjun Kharge, P Chidambaram and Anand Sharma were present on the occasion among others.

Former Haryana chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, ex- Delhi chief minister Sheila Dikshit, Congress' chief whip in the Lok Sabha Jyotiraditya Scindia and the party's media head, Randeep Surjewala, were also present at the Chinmaya Mission, where the prayer meeting was held.
 

A remembrance speech came from the late leader's daughter, Sushmita Dev, who is the sitting Congress MP from Silchar, Assam.

Sushmita, who was recently appointed as the Mahila Congress president, is considered close to party vice- president Rahul Gandhi.

At the prayer meeting, she looked back at her bonds with her father and also, how he was a man of few words.

Santosh Mohan Dev passed away at a Silchar nursing home on August 2 after a prolonged illness. He was 83.
