Cong leaders visit Amta rape victims' house, find it locked

AICC general secretary Shakeel Ahmed today alleged that ruling Trinamool Congress was shielding the main accused of Wednesday's gangrape of two women of a family at Muktirchowk under Amta Police Station.

Ahmed today paid a to visit the two women who were raped allegedly by eight men on Wednesday.

Seven have been arrested, who the CPI(M) alleged belonged to the ruling TMC.

Ahmed along with other senior party leaders went to meet the victims at their homes, only to find that the houses were locked and police patrolling the area.

"TMC is protecting the criminals... They are shielding the main accused in this matter," Ahmed alleged.
 

Meanwhile, health minister Chandrima Bhattacharya said that the state government was considering a rehabilitation package for the two victims and would to ensure that the culprits were brought to book.
