The opposition Congress and the Left Front will jointly bring a no-confidence motion against West Bengal Assembly Speaker Biman Banerjee during the ongoing Budget Session.

"We have decided to bring a no-confidence motion against West Bengal Assembly Speaker Biman Banerjee in this session. Left and Congress legislators will bring it jointly. We feel the Speaker is biased towards the ruling party and the Opposition doesn't get ample time to speak and raise important issues," Leader of Opposition Abdul Mannan told reporters.

When asked what would the Opposition do if those Congress MLAs who have switched over to the TMC, don't vote in favour of the motion, Mannan said, "When we have decided to bring in a no-confidence motion, we will also issue a whip on all our MLAs."

"Those who have switched over, don't have the guts to accept that publicly and inform the Speaker. They are cowards. So let them come clean," he said.

Mannan stressed that Floor coordination between the Congress and the Left Front would continue in the ongoing session of the Assembly.

"We have fought the elections together and we will stay together in the days to come," he said.
