Puducherry state unit of the BJP today took strong exception to the Congress "making democracy a mockery" by electing a non-member of Assembly in Puducherry to head a government as its Chief Minister'.
President of the local unit of the BJP R V Saminathan said in a release here today that the Congress leader V Narayanasamy had been elected the CLP leader and consequently to become a Chief Minister of the next government here.
"By electing a non member of the Assembly as Chief Minister the congress has made mockery of democracy", he said.

The police inaction came to the fore at a hotel where the Congress legislators meeting was held to elect the new CLP leader and where vandalism and violence reigned supreme after announcement of the name of Narayanasamy by a section of volunteers of the party, he alleged.
Those who indulged in vandalism should be booked without fear or favour, Saminathan said.
