Cong MLA convicted in assault case, released on bond

A local court today convicted the Congress MLA from Panki constituency, Videsh Singh, in connection with an assault case in Palamau district in 2008.

' First class Judicial Magistrate, Raju Tripathy, convicted Singh under section 323 (Punishment for voluntarily causing hurt) and 504 (Intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace) of IPC for causing hurt to one Birendra Mehta of Budhadih under Manatu police station of Palamau district in January, 2008.

The court, however, discharged the Congress leader on personal bond with a warning to maintain good conduct for two years under Probation of Offender Act.
