A local Congress MLA and his five supporters were today booked for allegedly grabbing a land in Kotwali area of the city.

Congress MLA from Swar Tanda seat of Rampur, Naved Kazim Ali, was among six persons booked today on complaint filed by Teej Agarwal, who has alleged that the MLA and others grabbed the land worth crores of rupees at Rampur garden here, police said.

Superintendent of Police, Rajiv Malhotra confirmed that an FIR has been registered and the matter was being probed.

Meanwhile, Ali told PTI that the charges against him were baseless as the land belonged to his grandfather, who was "last nawab of Rampur".

The legislator said that he had papers of the land and would approach High Court against the case.
