Congress MLA Rabindranath Chattopadhyay today alleged that he was threatened over phone that he would be murdered if he did not join the ruling Trinamool Congress.

He said he received the call on November 11 in which an unknown man threatened him to join the TMC as was being done by many others and if he did not follow suit, he would be killed.

The Congress MLA from Katwa in Burdwan district claimed he had informed the police about this but no action was taken.

The police, however, said a complaint was lodged by the MLA only today.

The Congress leader said he brought the matter to the public today as five bombs were recovered from beside his house at Katwa.

District Superintendent of Police SMH Mirza said the MLA gave the police a phone number from which the threat call was made. The matter is being investigated, the SP said.
