Lyngdoh was summoned by the district authorities yesterday after the visit of the members of the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights to the coal mines in the district, known for rat-hole mining activities.

The mines owned by the legislator have allegedly no safety measures and there are no labour welfare activities in the mines, the sources said.

The Commission member Yogesh Dube urged tribal mine owners to address issues of labour, health and education and asked them not to recruit children at the hazardous mines.
