Congress today petitioned the Election Commission complaining against the alleged "bogus and "fake" names in voters list in various constituencies in assembly poll-bound Delhi.
Citing the instances of "irregularities" in various assembly constituencies of the state, the party also alleged this has been done "to derail the fair and proper election by unfair means and careful manipulation of the electoral rolls."
In a communication to Chief Election Commissioner V S Sampath, AICC Legal Department Secretary K C Mitta said "it has been brought to our notice that in almost all the constituencies in Delhi/New Delhi, major irregularities exist, so much so that a large number of voters having same name and same parentage, (father's name) have been included in the electoral roll."

He added "not only this, it has also been noticed that the same photograph appears at a number of places repeatedly.
"It has also been brought to our notice that in the electoral roll there are instances of voters registered at addresses of empty plots in Delhi/New Delhi depicting them as residential address," Congress said.
The party has also sought an appointment from the poll panel to raise this issue preferably on December 22 when a delegation of Congress leaders, including AICC general secertary in-charge for Delhi P C Chacko, PCC chief Aravinder Singh Lovely and CLP leader Harun Yusuf, plan to meet the EC officials.
The draft electoral roll in Delhi was published on Ocotber 15 and the summary revision is underway.
