During Question Hour, Speaker Meira Kumar asked Mohammad Asrarul Haque to read out his starred question on development of agriculture in backward states.

"What is the question number? Where is it?" Haque was heard asking the member seated next to him. With the mike on, the whole House heard him and the BJP members took potshots.

Ninong Ering, Minister of State for Minority Affairs, helped Haque with a Hindi version of the questions.

With the Opposition members booing him, the Speaker had to intervene. "He is a very senior member. You should not speak like this. He is a respected member," Kumar said.

Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar replied to his question and said government has made efforts to improve production of rice and wheat in eastern Indian plains.

He said implementation of government schemes had led to increase in production of rice in Bihar, Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand.

"I am satisfied with the answer," the 70-year-old member from Kishanganj in Bihar said.
